                   Air Pollution and Allergies

If you're seeking refuge from the outdoor pollutants and allergy "triggers," take note:  your indoor air can be up to 20 times more polluted! And 99% of that is invisible. But's not hard to keep your indoor air clean if you take a few simple steps.

Don't be so quick to blame the dog. Although animal dander can pollute indoor air, it is accompanied by dust, pollen, mold, tobacco smoke, chemicals from dry cleaned goods, woodstove smoke, aerosol sprays,  bacteria, viruses, and dust mites, just to name a few.

Indoor air can make life miserable for those with allergies. Bacteria and viruses promote disease. Noxious gases constrict air passages and irritate lungs. The costs of these allergies are enormous. Today 18-20 percent of all children have significant allergic diseases.

Air cleaners, both electronic and mechanical, can significantly reduce the amount of of dust and indoor air pollutants, including airborne allergens, present in almost every home. And all of us, whether we have allergies or not, can breathe easier with cleaner indoor air. It's the way our homes should be.

Honeywell conducted a survey of 1,400 people who had lived with the air cleaner for at least ten months. The results were impressive.

Four out of every five respondents found additional relief with an electronic air cleaner.

  • Of those, 85% said they were able to sleep better.

  • 28% said they had more energy.

  • 28% felt more physically active.

  • 23% said they missed fewer days of work or school.

Respondents also felt relief from those "classic" symptoms such as:

  • Nasal/sinus congestion: 76%

  • Watery/itchy eyes: 50%

  • Runny nose: 40%

  • Wheezing: 32%

  • Headache: 29%

  • Sore throat: 23%

The relief felt was so great that among survey respondents taking medication for allergies, about 70 percent said that they were able to reduce (and for some eliminate) their medications after the EAC was installed. That's significant because Americans are estimated to spend over $2 billion each year on over-the-counter medications alone for allergy and asthma.  Help your family breathe easier with a electronic, mechanical, or a portable room air cleaner.
