Carrier Air Conditioning and Protecting the Atmosphere

Increasing evidence has shown that chlorine-containing refrigerants (CFCs and to a lesser extent HCFCs) can damage the earth's protective ozone layer. Carrier is helping to lead a revolution in the way the air conditioning industry handles these refrigerants. Carrier is the only air conditioning manufacturer that provides chlorine-free alternative refrigerants across its entire product line - from residential to large commercial applications.

Carrier received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Ozone Protection Award for leadership in product development and technology, recognizing its development of the world's first residential central air conditioner that uses chlorine-free refrigerant and technology that significantly improves the operating efficiency of commercial air conditioning "chillers" which use non-ozone depleting refrigerant.

Carrier's leadership in the proper handling of refrigerants is recognized among others in the field. Their Code of Service is used industry-wide as a guide for the safe servicing of existing CFC-based equipment. Carrier is leading the way to a safer, cleaner, non-chlorine era.
